Led by a paediatric intensive care nurse

Our founder is a university-qualified registered nurse with over 20 years of nursing experience. More than 15 of those years have been in paediatric intensive care at one of Australia's major children's hospitals.

In intensive care, nurses look after one or two critically unwell children at a time. They are trained to notice the smallest change early and act quickly. She has cared for thousands of infants, children and teenagers with complex heart, lung, neurological, surgical and genetic conditions. She has supported their families through diagnosis, recovery and the move home from hospital.

She has also run the paediatric intensive care unit as Nurse Unit Manager. In that role she was responsible for the whole ward, including staffing, clinical standards, patient safety, training and working with doctors, allied health and families. She is a Clinical Nurse Specialist and sits on the unit's Clinical Nurse Specialist committee, which helps shape the standards and practice of senior nursing care.

That clinical skill and leadership experience shape how Twin Rivers Health operates: safe, well organised and built on high clinical standards.

Experience and qualifications

• University-qualified Registered Nurse, registered with AHPRA

• Over 20 years of nursing experience

• More than 15 years in paediatric intensive care

• Experience as Nurse Unit Manager, paediatric intensive care

• Clinical Nurse Specialist and member of the unit's Clinical Nurse Specialist committee

How we can help

We provide nursing and high-intensity support for children and adults with complex health needs, including:

• Tracheostomy care: routine care, suctioning and tube changes

• Breathing support: home oxygen, CPAP and BiPAP

• Feeding support: nasogastric, gastrostomy (PEG) and jejunal feeds, and pump management

• Seizure management: monitoring, seizure plans and emergency medication

• Medication support: complex regimes, administration and monitoring

• Wound, stoma and catheter care

• Hospital to home: helping families settle in after a hospital stay and feel confident with new equipment and routines

• In-home respite: skilled care so parents can rest, work or spend time with siblings

• Training and support: helping parents, carers and support workers learn new care routines and build confidence

• School and community support: nursing support so children can take part in school, day programs and outings

3. Plan together. We develop a care plan with you, and with your doctors, therapists and support coordinator if you'd like.

4. Ongoing care. We provide consistent, reliable care and review the plan as your child's needs change.

Working hand in hand with transport

Twin Rivers Health and Twin Rivers Transportation work together. For clients with complex needs, the people getting them to appointments understand their care plan.

Funding

We support NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed, as well as private clients. We're happy to talk through funding and what your plan may cover.
